A **voucher** is a discount code customers type in while choosing their tickets (or at the shop checkout). Manage them under **Operations > Vouchers**.

## Create a voucher

| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| **Name** | For your own reference. Customers never see it. |
| **Code** | What customers type: up to 20 letters and numbers, unique across vouchers. Leave blank on a new voucher, or choose **Generate**, to have one made for you. |
| **Discount** | **Amount off** (in your system currency) or **Percentage off** (1 to 100). |
| **Expires after** | The last day it can be used. Blank means no time limit. |
| **Only for these tickets** | Tick tickets to limit it. Leave all unticked to apply to every ticket. |
| **Exclude for events** | The voucher never discounts an event, even with no tickets chosen. |
| **Allow for merchandise** | Customers can also use it in the shop. |
| **Usage mode** | See below. |
| **Enabled** | Untick to switch it off without deleting it. |

A discount **never takes a booking below zero**. A booking covered in full is confirmed without any payment.

### Usage modes

| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| **Reusable** | Any number of bookings can use it, any number of times. |
| **Single use** | Once a booking (or shop order) has used it, nobody can use it again. |
| **Single use per customer** | Each customer, told apart by email address, can use it once. Any number of different customers can. |

### Which tickets does it apply to?

| You chose… | Voucher works on… |
|---|---|
| No tickets, and "exclude events" off | Every ticket **and** every event. |
| No tickets, and "exclude events" on | Every ticket, but not events. |
| One or more tickets | Only those tickets. It never applies to events. |

## In the shop

With **Allow for merchandise** on, the same code works at the shop checkout, where it discounts the **whole basket** of goods. The ticket limits and "exclude events" only apply to bookings. Postage is added after vouchers, so an order whose goods are fully covered still pays postage.

## The voucher list

The list shows **Current** vouchers by default. Expired and used single-use vouchers are hidden: choose **All** to see them. Search by code with the box at the top. Each voucher shows its discount, usage mode, expiry, whether it applies to merchandise, and where a single-use voucher was spent.

Use **Copy code** to copy a code to the clipboard so you can paste it into an email or social post.

## Edit and delete

Editing never changes bookings that already used the voucher. **Delete** makes the code stop working. Bookings that used it keep their record of it. This can't be undone, so consider **Disable** first.
