# Configuration

> **Administrators only**
>
> This part of the portal is only visible to people with the **Administrator** role. If you can't see it in your menu, ask an administrator. See [Roles and permissions](/reference/roles-and-permissions).

**Marketing > Configuration** has one setting.

## Automatic sync

**Send new customers to my marketing tools**

When this is on, the first time someone **books, buys a pass, or orders from the shop**, their **name and email address** are added to every connected tool. Customers who have opted out are never sent.

If you turn it on with no tool connected, the page reminds you that nothing will be sent yet. Once a tool is connected, the page lists which.

> **Think about consent first**
>
> Sending someone to a marketing list means they'll receive marketing. Make sure your booking terms and privacy notice cover this, and that your marketing tool sends the usual unsubscribe and consent messages for your region.

## What automatic sync does *not* do

- It doesn't send customers you already have. It only adds **new** customers going forward. To send existing customers, [export them](/marketing/export) and import the file into your tool.
- It doesn't remove anyone. Opt-outs are passed on separately, and always, even if automatic sync is off.

## Opt-outs

See [how opting out works](/marketing#how-opting-out-works).
